Meditation

What place does meditation have within our Christian faith?

Not just meditating on the Word, but taking time to use our imagination to meditate on God.

Just something we're discussing at college and I don't really have an answer, some of the things I've read about this week make me feel slightly uncomfortable, but I am a very active person and it might just be this passive, creative thing isn't for me.

What do you think?

I was talking about the topic on the radio last week with Ross Clifford of Morling College in NSW.

I love the idea of it, but don't practice it anywhere near as much as would be good for me.
I think there is so much we can learn from groups outside our evangelical life, plus outside our normal historical learning (which is mainly Luther?Calvin onwards.)
I was praying this morning and the idea of meditation came through for me, so maybe you and Rodney are giving me another nudge in that direction.
