Remember 'Remember the Titans'?

Culture change is tough - but it is worth it!!! I was reminded of this as I watched the movie Remember the Titans. A coach dropped into a chaotic situation must bring culture change for the team to survive... but he doesn't just want it to survive he wants it to succeed, and to dominate. In a way we want our ministries to do likewise so what ideas for culture change can we take from Coach Boon?

Back to the Mission

Appeasement verses Satisfaction

Prayer = Dependence

Even in the confidence I have in my own abilities - I am learning that I still need to be dependent on God if the outcome is going to be worthwhile for the Kingdom. Prayer is the key consideration in this! ~photo credit: wiedmaier on flickr

Nathanael - 6 Months

My nephew is growing up quick. It sure doesn't feel like 6 months have passed already. Ness and Andy came home from Canada in December, so it's been great to be able to spend more time with them and Nathanael.

Nae has the most light hearted personality... even for a youngster he seems very accommodating and joyous. He's loving his solid food these days, getting into corm (yum), peas (yuk!) and all kinds of other blended delights.

I find it easier to do the drive out to Ipswich to visit the family now that seeing the little guy is also part of the deal.

Why do we get it so wrong?

I did a Google Image search for 'Jesus' with Pastor Joe today as we were discussing cultural views of Jesus in regards to his sermon this week on God's Revelation Through Jesus (seriously if you're in the North Brisbane this Sunday come and hear the message at City North Baptist).

Anyway, the image search was quite interesting. How, over so many years, have we got the image of Jesus so mixed up? And we continue to do it today.

Here are just a few;
